Tonight is the Victoria's Secret annual Winter fashion show. This is an event I always enjoy watching because the props are stunning and the models themselves are very pretty as well, it is just a beautiful event. However, I do find it sad that all of the models are excessively thin. Even though this has been the way a model is for years, it goes way back to Twiggy. I always wonder how they stay so skinny, are they really healthy? Anorexia and bulimia are eating disorders that are often found in super models. They are horrible disorders that can end up being fatal. Do you think it's worth risking your health and maybe your life to walk down a runway a couple of years in a row? I'm not saying these models suffer from these disorders because I do not know, but I do know many models do and it is very disconcerting.

Personally, I really don't think it's worth it to risk your health or your life simply to put on some clothes and walk down a runway for however long it lasts. Yes, the show is very well done, the models are gorgeous, and of course the props are usually unique. But because this excessively thin look is, unfortunately, the "new skinny", it sometimes leads these talented, young, and beautiful women to sometimes risk their lives simply to look "healthy" and hot. I truly don't think it's worth it.
When you talk about super Models and eating disorders, there is definitely a correlation between the two. However, one thing that you must always remember that correlation is not causation. Though many super models may have eating disorders, does not mean that super models have eating disorders.
It has become the norm of fashion to showcase a a skinny woman, while advertising their products. This is sad mainly because these models are role models for many teens in our society today...
I do know all of the model "buzz", because my friend was Miss South Florida 2007, and she told me that almost everyone in the pageant suffered from bulimia. This really upsets me, especially because I would like to go into the medical field...
