Flu Tracker!

Today in class, Mrs.Stoklosa brought to my attention that this would be a great topic for my blog. I agreed and so I researched all about it when I got home. Google has now launched a service called the "Flu Tracker." However, it is not as it sounds it does not actually track where the flu is spreading. What it does is it takes into account how many people in the same area search a specific illness on Google and takes the trends to predict where the flu is spreading. It is using correlations from Google searches and the actual illness, but correlation does not always equal causation. I still think it is extremely cool and helpful, because even if it's not always correct about where the flu is spreading, one can still take precautions and take Air Borne or take a lot of Vitamin C and prevent the risk of getting sick.
